Treadmill weight limits: how to choose the right one

What a treadmill's maximum user weight means, why it pays to leave some headroom, and the weight limit of every KTQ treadmill and walking pad.

Updated 29 October 2026

Every treadmill has a maximum user weight. It's one of the most important numbers to check before you buy, and it tells you more than you might think.

What does "max user weight" mean?

It's the heaviest user the manufacturer has designed the machine for. It reflects how strong the frame, the deck and the motor are. Staying within it keeps the machine safe and working as it should, and using it over the limit can affect your warranty.

Leave some headroom

A machine used near its limit every day works harder than one with room to spare. If you're close to a limit, pick the next model up. It's also worth thinking about everyone in the house who will use it.

KTQ weight limits

Model Max user weight Speed Belt
1 Series 120 kg 1–12 km/h 95 × 40 cm
2 Series 160 kg 1–12 km/h 100 × 40 cm
3 Series walking pad 160 kg 1–10 km/h 100 × 42 cm
4 Series 180 kg 1–14 km/h 115 × 42 cm

What else to look for

  • Belt size. A wider, longer belt gives you more room and feels more stable. The 3 and 4 Series have 42 cm wide belts.
  • Cushioning. The 2, 3 and 4 Series have a double-layer running deck: when your foot lands on the deck, the flex and the double layer absorb more of the impact, so it's not harsh on your knees.
  • Incline. Walking uphill raises the effort without going faster, a lower-impact way to work harder. The 3 Series has 8 Level Auto Incline and the 4 Series has 15% Auto Incline. Read more in our incline walking guide.
  • Motor. A stronger motor holds a steady speed more easily, especially on incline.

The bottom line

Check the max user weight first, leave some headroom, then choose on space, speed and incline. The 4 Series has the highest limit in the range at 180 kg.
