Treadmills for heavier users: weight limits explained

Choosing a treadmill if you're a heavier user? Compare weight limits, motors, belts and frames across the KTQ range, with headroom explained simply.

Updated 29 October 2026

Picking a treadmill as a heavier user shouldn't mean wading through small print. This guide is a practical look at how to choose a machine with the build to match: the frame, the motor, the belt and the weight limit. It's about getting a treadmill that feels solid and lasts. New to weight limits? Read how treadmill weight limits work first. This guide is about choosing a model once you know your number.

Start with the maximum user weight

Every treadmill has a maximum user weight, which is the heaviest person the maker has designed it for. It's the first number to check. A good rule is to choose a limit well above your own weight, so the machine has headroom and isn't working at its edge every time you use it. Also count everyone at home who will use it, and use the highest weight.

Using a KTQ machine above its maximum user weight isn't covered by our warranty, so this limit matters.

Which KTQ treadmills suit heavier users?

These figures come from our product pages:

Model Max user weight Motor Belt Machine weight
1 Series 120 kg 3.5HP brushless 95 × 40 cm 25 kg
2 Series 160 kg 4HP brushless 100 × 40 cm 25.5 kg
3 Series walking pad 160 kg 4HP brushless 100 × 42 cm 25 to 26 kg
4 Series 180 kg 5HP brushless 115 × 42 cm 40.5 kg

The 4 Series has the highest limit in our range at 180 kg. The 1 Series is rated to 120 kg, so it's a good match if the heaviest user at home is comfortably under 100 kg.

What to look for beyond the number

A stronger motor

A bigger motor doesn't have to work as hard to hold a steady speed. Our 4 Series has a 5HP brushless motor, the largest in the range. The 2 and 3 Series have 4HP, and the 1 Series has 3.5HP. Brushless motors also tend to run more smoothly and quietly than older brushed ones.

A wider, longer belt

A roomier belt gives you space to place your feet and feels more settled. The 3 and 4 Series belts are 42 cm wide. The 4 Series belt is also 115 cm long, the longest we offer.

A sturdy frame

The 4 Series deck sits in a sturdy steel frame, and it's the heaviest machine we sell at 40.5 kg. A solid frame helps it stay planted. All KTQ treadmills have a 3-year frame warranty.

Cushioning

The 2, 3 and 4 Series sit on a double-layer shock-absorbing base.

A handrail

All four KTQ treadmills have a handrail for balance and confidence, including the 1 Series.

Which model for which weight?

There's no single right answer, but here's a simple way to think about it:

Your weight (or the heaviest user at home) Models to look at
Comfortably under 100 kg (about 15.7 stone) Any KTQ treadmill has room: the 1 Series (120 kg) up to the 4 Series
100 to 140 kg 2 Series or 3 Series (160 kg each), or the 4 Series (180 kg)
140 to 160 kg The 4 Series (180 kg) gives the most headroom
Over 160 kg Our highest limit is 180 kg. The closer you are to it, the less headroom you have, so please get in touch and we'll help you check

These bands are a guide only, built on leaving a sensible margin below each limit. Always check the limit on the product page.

2 Series or 3 Series?

Both are rated to 160 kg with a 4HP motor. The 3 Series is a slim walking pad with 8 Level Auto Incline and a 100 × 42 cm belt, up to 10 km/h. The 2 Series is a folding treadmill that goes up to 12 km/h.

Is the 4 Series the right fit?

The 4 Series is functional and versatile: it combines the highest weight limit, the biggest motor and the longest belt. It's £429, folds upright to 149 cm tall, 73 cm wide and 26 cm deep, and weighs 40.5 kg. That's heavier to move than our other models, so check you're happy to roll it on its built-in wheels.

Practical tips for a heavier user

  • Check the space. Allow room at the back of the treadmill and measure before ordering.
  • Think about delivery. Delivery is free to UK mainland addresses in 3 to 5 working days, to your front door or communal entrance, and our courier will be in touch to arrange it. Details are on the delivery page.
  • Follow the manual and keep the belt lubricated. See the maintenance guide.
  • Use the trial. Every KTQ order comes with a 60-day free home trial, so you can see how it feels. Terms are in the refund policy.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum user weight on a KTQ treadmill?

It depends on the model: 120 kg on the 1 Series, 160 kg on the 2 Series and 3 Series, and 180 kg on the 4 Series.

Which KTQ treadmill has the highest weight limit?

The 4 Series, at 180 kg, with a 5HP brushless motor and a 115 × 42 cm belt.

Is there a walking pad with a 150 kg weight limit?

The 3 Series walking pad is rated to 160 kg, which is above 150 kg, with 8 Level Auto Incline.

What happens if I go over the weight limit?

The machine is designed for users up to that limit, and KTQ's warranty doesn't cover use above the maximum user weight. Always choose a limit with some headroom.

What is the best treadmill for someone who weighs 20 stone?

20 stone is about 127 kg. Look for a limit well above that, such as the 2 Series or 3 Series at 160 kg, or the 4 Series at 180 kg for the most headroom.

Can I try it before committing?

Yes. KTQ offers a 60-day free home trial. If you're not happy, we collect it free and give a full refund, subject to the trial conditions.
